Utilization Management

Philosophy Statement

Our Utilization Management departmental philosophy is to support the agency philosophy of enhancing and improving the quality of life of our eligible consumers. We will seek to authorize only person-centered, effective, medically necessary supports and services that are expected to maximize consumer outcomes.

Mission Statement:

In compliance with all regulatory, governing and accrediting bodies, the Utilization Management department will review and authorize services to eligible consumer in a manner that maximizes treatment effectiveness and is fiscally responsible with public funds.

Vision Statement:

The Utilization Management department will assist the PIHP in providing superior services and becoming a community leader in determining the optimal level of care -- at the right time, to the right consumer in the right setting -- so that consumer outcomes are maximized and PIHP resources are responsibly allocated.

Inpatient Pre-admission Review (IPAR)

Providers may request an inpatient pre-admission review by completing the GCCMH Inpatient Pre-admission Review Form (see link below) and faxing it to Utilization Management at (810) 496-4932 or by contacting Utilization Management by phone at (810)496-4931. Reviews are completed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
