STAFF BIOGRAPHIES

Shante Burke is the Health and Wellness Manager for the InShape® program. She is a graduate of Michigan State University and has a degree in Kinesiology. She was a member of the Women's Track and Field Team on a full athletic sholarship. Shante is also obtaining her MBA from Wayne State University. She is very passionate about the wellness industry and has been involved in it for over eleven years. Shante is a Flint native who loves her city and community.
Shante is very grateful to be part of the GCCMH staff and the InShape program. She hopes the InShape program will be a useful tool in personal recovery for the consumers. Some of her favorite quotes to live by are:

Boe Glasschild is honored to be part of the InShape Wellness Program for GCCMH. He holds certifications in Yoga and Pilates from NESTA (National Endurance and Sports Trainers Association). Boe is also a certified Personal Trainer through ACE (American Council on Exercise). He is a member of the IABYT (International Association of Black Yoga Teachers). Boe is also a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
His experience includes tai chi, chi gung, rhythm therapy, and kundalini yoga. He has also created numerous wellness programs and workshops that have been taught from the west coast to the gulf coast.
Boe brings experience and passion for sharing and implementing healthier lifestyle choices.

Shayla Blade is committed to helping people reach their goals by advising with honesty and motivation. Shayla has been working in the wellness industry for over 10 years, as a Certified Fitness Trainer through ISSA and Certified Nutritionist Consultant with AFP&A. "What I love most about InSHAPE is that it gives you the opportunity to explore wellness beyond just exercise. As a paticipant you learn about nutrition, gardening, and other community activities. This is a very awesome place to be and be a part of." ~Shayla

Douglas Woodfield has been designing physical fitness programs since 2006 for various people, both on an individual level and in the group setting. He is a Certified Aquatics Aerobics Intructor through NETA and a Certified Personal Trainer through NASM. He is currently enrolled in classes on health education, psychology and philosophy at the University of Michigan Flint.

Dennis Johnson, better known as D.J., is the agency's InSHAPE Wellness Peer. D.J. has been with the agency for sixteen years and counting. He has worked and gained a wealth of experience by holding different positions throughout the agency. Being an ex-athlete himself, D.J. brings his passion for exercising and helps coordinate a lot of InSHAPE activities. Currently he is the organizer of the CMH Walking Club which meets every Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the main building's lobby.
